Sandal as Footwear
This is a name of footwear, the thing that you wear on your foot for protection or to completing your dressing for special occasion.
   
 

History

  Sandals had been wore by ancient pre historic man, archeologist predicted the caveman wore footwear since 5,000,000 years ago in the ice age era, first they use animal skin to protect their feet from cold ice and sharp rocks, and after they knew animal skin had weak characteristic that easy to torn, decay, and rotten in short period, they used hard and stiff sole such as leaves or wood with strap attached to tied to the foot, and the first sandals was invented.
The man with footwear is painted on rock painting on Spanish cave that believed from the late Paleolithic period (15,000 years ago).
The famous sandals type is from Egypt that displayed on their painting and statute, the sandals with long string strap on foot that sometime wrapped to the calf.
 
 

Variety of sandals

 
Flip-flop
This is the simplest kind of sandal, usually made from rubber with rubber string (called thong) attached that strapping the foot and clamping by big toe and pointer toe.

 

Slipper
Usually made from soft furry fabric for indoor activity, also called as house shoe, simple and comfort to use, you just slip in your foot.

 

Off-Road Sandals
This is a high durable outdoor sandals, made by strong rubber and fabric such as Thermoplastic Polyurethane with Velcro for strapping, and usually uses for sport activity like mountain hiking or forest exploring.
Topless Sandals
Also known as Strapless Sandal or Nude sandals, this sandals don't have a thong or any string attached, just put your feet on the sole and walking as usual, people will thinking you are walking bare foot but actually your feet protected by hard rubber, the sole base will be glued into your bottom foot, the sticky glue is guaranteed will not residue your feet and has a one year lifetime.

Soleless Sandals
Also known as Bare Bottom Sandal, this the opposite version of Topless Sandals, actually you only wearing a pair of string that strapped on your foot, people will thinking you are wearing sandals.

Sandals by country

  Japanese Sandals

The Japanese were accustomed to taking off their shoes before rising into their homes and usually changing it with sandals, they have a lot of type of sandals and footwear, they dividing the footwear for indoor and for outdoor.
 
Geta
This sandals made by wood, each side built by one foot size wood piece with two vertical wood bases, but in other model has one vertical wood base.
This kind of sandals need some practice for someone to wear it, the gravity point is located in the backside of the sandals, if you lay your body upward you might be fallen.
Zori
This sandals made by tatami or straw mat, with "v" or "x" shaped thong that sewed in the tatami base. In present time you can find the tatami is layered with rubber sole base. Usually use for indoor activity.
Jika-tabi
This sandals inspired by "Tabi" the Japanese women sock that have split toe part for using with Geta or Zori. Usually made by strong clothes and hard but flexible sole base. The split toe has extra functionality for workers that usually use their toe for clamping or operating machine.
Waraji
